Wear Now vs. Wear Later

Since tomorrow’s holiday always presents us with an unknown, I figured I’d take the guess-work out of your wardrobe in case we have an additional 6 weeks of winter. Today’s post gives you two options for each outfit: a “wear now” and a “wear later”. Think of it more as a “wear if we have 6 more weeks of frozen toes” and a “get ready to wear b/c Spring is around the corner!”

I don’t know about any of you ladies, but Spring shopping has been on my mind a whole lot lately. The issue is it’s too freaking cold to wear any of the items now! Above is my best solution for a bright, poppy colored sheath dress—appropriate for office wear or going out to lunch with a girlfriend. Wear Now: For this poppy color, I chose an open and oversized navy blue cardigan to keep you warm at your desk. Top it off with a chic-ly oversized heather gray cocoon-esque coat, navy blue leather booties, a textured black leather tote, and interesting scarf and you’re good to go. Wear Later: Since this eye-catching hue deserves center stage make sure your pairings are in the neutrals family. I chose a bright white blazer, patent nude pumps and a soft pink tote. Personalize the otherwise understated look with a bold necklace. I chose a tribal statement necklace in a contrasting cobalt blue.

Every year I always struggle to find a great Spring jacket. I tend to want a leather jacket, but it’s difficult finding a lightweight one within a reasonable price range. Anywho, the middle outfit was inspired by the eyesore I always see while running errands: girls dressed in sweatpants and Uggs. I get it—it’s cold and you’re in a hurry, but that doesn’t mean you have to look like you’ve given up on life. A simple formula to stay cute while running errands: a tailored pair of jeans (or just jeans that fit!) and a jacket that skims your body. Wear Now: Since the weather still gets a bit nippy day to day, I’ve included a belted cardigan, infinity scarf, ankle booties, and leather tote all within the same color family. Think of this as the lazy way to looking effortless, not hopeless. Wear Later: Once the temperatures start to rise, ditch the chunkier knits for a finer gauged knitted sweater. The yellow/citrine color pairs nicely with a sky blue infinity scarf (yes, I am a scarf person), cognac leather platform pumps + clutch, and simple wayfairer sunglasses.

Man, I hope Spring comes sooner rather than later. I need sunshine and warmer days soon! How are all of you doing this Winter?
